Easy Street Drama, Dance and Singing classes in SheffieldWelcome to Easy Street.

Easy Street Theatre school in Sheffield offers dance, drama and singing lessons and aims to be inclusive, welcoming children, teenagers and young adults from the local community based purely on their talent and their desire to be involved with the arts.

We currently have over 70 students attending, from all over Sheffield, Derbyshire and Rotherham.

Our students are taught by qualified professionals with years of experience in musical theatre.

All students at our Saturday classes in Sheffield will be able to study for London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) exams.

These can be taken in a variety of ways: Solo Acting, Duologue Acting, Group Acting, Solo Musical Theatre, Group Musical Theatre.

  • There will also be occasional specialist workshops led by professionals from the business on subjects ranging from: – mask work, stage fighting, comedy, stage make-up, Shakespeare, mime, performance poetry and circus skills.
  • Saturday morning classes are split into three sessions of Acting, Singing and Dancing.

Drama

The students will cover basic skills in drama, movement and vocal techniques, plus improvisation and scripted work being used towards the development of performance.

Singing and Acting classes SheffieldDance

Students will work at the beginning on the basic principles of dance; they will develop and maintain a good and correct posture whilst working.

They will develop an enjoyment of movement and dance through modern, contemporary and jazz styles encouraging free expression, creativity and appreciation of all music.

Singing

During the vocals sessions students will learn the basic principles of singing, reading music, using their voices and breathing techniques correctly.

They will learn the basic principles of rhythm, beat, pitch and good listening skills.

The students will learn how to sing in two, three or four parts with clear diction, control of pitch and a sense of phrase and musical expression. They will be taught how to practise, rehearse and present performances with an awareness of the audience, occasion and the venue.

  • Easy Street Youth Theatre Sheffield.

Our evening youth theatre caters for 11-21 year olds and we currently have 44 young people attending, from all over Sheffield, Derbyshire and Rotherham. We meet both Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm. Fees are currently £180 per year.

  • Eay Street is more than just a Drama group, our Youth Theatre has had sell-out shows and rave reviews for our productions of Footloose, Bouncers, Les Miserables, Anastasia The Pantomime and Cats.

Easy Street Drama Academy Performing in Sheffield Our annual panto Jan/Feb which this year was Peter Pan(tomime), was performed at the Library Theatre in Sheffield.

  • Development opportunities:

    We are also keen to develop our students and encourage them to work with the younger students for drama and dance, to learn lighting and sound skills, set dressing, production, costume and make up, publicity and fund-raising.

Saturdays at 10.00-11:30am

Eckington Academy – Saturdays

DRAMA FROM 10 – 11.30 FOR AGES 9 UPWARDS (COST £6)

These classes will include confidence boosters, fun warm-ups, games, story telling, improvisation, narration, sculpting, still images and thought tracking. Students will learn how to use puppets, do script making, script reading, perform in front of their peers and an audience and how to be positive and constructive when giving feedback abut other people’s work.
