WOAPA Adult Singers – Beginners!
Following the success of WOAPA's Adult Singing Group (currently with 90 members!) we are launching a brand new 'Beginners' group.
Why are so many of us afraid to sing?
Some people may have been told in the past (often as a child) that they ‘can’t sing’.
They might have been laughed at, or ridiculed for their singing.
This can result in individuals having psychological limitations or a distorted perception of their ability which is not based in reality. Everybody can sing – some people just need more practise than others. You may be pleasantly surprised!
We invite you to give yourself ‘permission’ to sing –to find your voice,
discover your inner Diva,
to re-create the magic of childhood and
to share the enjoyment of singing with others.
What is WOAPA’s Beginners Group?
It’s a supportive and encouraging group which sings modern, lively songs - and we have loads of fun while we do it.
For those who have never dared but would like to sing, we provide a safe space where you can join other terrified singers to ease your way into singing and discover your voice.
We will help you overcome your fears to sing with confidence.
Singing purely for pleasure, the group is for those who would like to just sing - and not be expected to perform
(but once you are confident, you may like to consider joining our existing Adult Singing Group which performs regularly).Who is it for?
The group is for anyone who has little, or no, experience of singing in a group (or those who are a little 'rusty').
The group has been specially created for those who:· Are scared or frightened of singing in public
· Consider themselves ‘non-singers’
· Would like to open the door to a future of enjoyable singing
· Have fun and experience the benefit of singing
What will I learn?
We will introduce you to some basic musical terms – time signatures, rhythms, singing in parts and vocal exercises. You will also build up a repertoire of modern, lively songs.Where does the group meet?

Each week, students attend three, 1hour sessions of drama, singing and dance.

Reports, Awards and Exams
In order to share our students’ progress we arrange informal performances for families.
Parents also receive written reports at regular intervals.
WOAPA provides its own internal awards for achievement in class. For those students wishing to undertake more formal assessments, exams are arranged for both LAMDA and Arts Awards.

We also run an adult singing group in Witney (choir) with a contemporary repertoire (think 'Glee'!). No auditions or requirement to read music, emphasis is on having fun whilst singing with like-minded people. The group currently has 60 members and meets on Wednesday evenings

West Oxfordshire Academy of Performing Arts covers many areas such as Alvescot, Ascott under wychwood, Asthal and Aston Cote. Also Shifford and Chimney, Bampton, Black Bourton, Bladon and Blenheim with Brize Norton, Broadwell, Bruern, Burford and Carterton.
We also offer drama sessions for kids from Cassington, Chadlington, Charlbury with Chastleton, Chilson, as well as Chipping Norton and also Churchill. Also, singing sessions for kids from Clanfield, Combe, Cornbury and Wychwood, Cornwell with Crawley, Curbridge and Ducklington.
We also offer dance sessions for kids from Enstone, Eynsham, Fawler and Fifield as well as areas such as Filkins and Broughton Poggs, Finstock, Freeland and Fulbrook. WOAPA students may also come from Glympton, Grafton and Radcot, Great Tew, Hailey and Hanborough, as well as Hardwick with Yelford, Heythrop and Holwell, with Idbury, Kelmscott, Kencot, Kiddington with Asterleigh.
Our Theatre School covers the area including Kingham, Langford, Leafield, Lew, Little Faringdon and Little Tew, alongside lyneham, Milton Under Wychwood, Minster Lovell, North Leigh and Northmoor.
Dance classes for children from Over Norton, Oxford, Ramsden, Rollright and Rousham. Singing Classes for children from Salford, Sandford St Martin, Sarsden and Shilton, as well as Shipton Under Wychwood, South Leigh and Spelsbury.

About:
Our Witney choir (Adult Singing Group), which started in September 2011, meets weekly during school term dates and continues to grow and attract lots of interest with local singers. The current total number of members signed up is 90 - with new members joining each week from as far as Oxford, Chipping Norton, Carterton and Bampton.
We hold no auditions - and there is no requirement to be able to read music, the emphasis is on having FUN, while singing with like-minded people.
We aim for a very contemporary repertoire - Adele, Bruno Mars, Jessie J, Lady GAGA, Queen, Buble, The Beatles, Blondie, Take That and One Direction are already in the song list.
We meet on Wednesday evenings 7.30 - 9.00pm in Witney.
First session is a 'FREE taster'. Please contact us to arrange yours!
