A Theatre Company for young actors living in Bristol.
Bristol Old Vic Young Company is home to young people from all across the city. From inspiring weekly sessions to full-scale performances, if you are 7-25 years old and passionate about theatre then you too can get involved.
Our Young Vic Company has performed at Bristol Harbour Festival and in Bristol Old Vic's professional production of Coram Boy, won three awards at the National Student Drama Festival, created six full-length Studio productions and performed both Children of Killers and The Grandfathers at the National Theatre as part of NT Connections. Excitingly, after seeing The Grandfathers Nicholas Hytner invited the show back for a run in The Shed at the National Theatre in July 2013. More recently Bristol Old Vic Young Company performed Pigeon English, a co-commission with the National Youth Theatre, at Bristol Old Vic and in a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. Pigeon English is the premiere stage adapation of Stephen Kelman's Man-Booker shortlisted novel, adapted by Gbolahan Obisesan.
Made in Bristol is the Young Company's graduate training company. Now in its fourth year, recent successes include an international tour of the production RIOT (including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival), performing I Would Not at the National Theatre and taking Convinction into Ashfield Young Offenders institute.
Our Young Company continues to expand through Satellite Young Company sessions which take place in six schools across Bristol and in various local communities. The aim of these sessions is to connect with young people who find it difficult to participate in arts activity, to provide a rich education through the arts and to develop deeper engagement with local communities across the city.
