Rickmansworth Drama School produces Hertfordshire Biggest Summer Project
Rickmansworth Blag Youth Theatre have just produced the Biggest Summer project in Hertfordshire.
On Monday July 25th 84 children aged from 8-17 years turned up to take part in the biggest summer Project in Herts. and Bucks. Peter Pan II…The Return.
The project which is run by theatre experts Richard and Lynn Beaumont is in its 15th Year and offers a unique, exciting and exhausting experience for all the children involved.
The script is especially written by Richard and Lynn to encompass 84 parts, each child has lines and all children have musical numbers and routines to learn. In just two weeks they produce a full scale musical production, a truly thrilling sight to behold.
Every day between 10am-6pm the children gathered to rehearse their parts with a team of experienced professionals to take them through their paces.
“It is an amazing 2 weeks” said Lynn Beaumont. “The children have had quite simply the best two weeks of their summer holiday with us. Parents book the project to fit in with their annual holiday. Some children have been doing the project since they were 8 years old"
This year’s production saw Harry Rawson aged 16 years step up to the role of Hook, his enthusiasm and commanding resonate voice made him a perfect Hook. Whilst Rory Jasper, Luke Cowan, Jack Warren and Oliver Clarke all aged 16 were hilarious as his accomplices.
Peter Pan played by Tommy Ling was a wonderful contrast and with his Pannish good looks and high energy gave Hook a run for his money as they went back into the story book, with Wendy, Tinkerbell, Jonathon and Michael to fight for a different ending of the original story.
With Pirates, Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians, Mini Ha Ha, Major Hoo Hoo and Narrators who guided the audience along it really was an enthralling journey.
