Blag Youth Theatre in Rickmansworth have been established since 1997 and have seen many children through their doors over the years.

The Youth theatre run by professional actors Richard and Lynn Beaumont is well known in the area and is also unique as their training methods are largely based around drama unlike most theatre schools in and around Rickmansworth. However they also run a very successful singing class which teaches children close harmony work and offers lots of performance opportunities.

At Blag the teaching methods have always had a heavy focus on comedy and encourage children to explore their abilities using improvisation games and devised work. Script work is often written specifically for the kids by Richard and Lynn who are proficient writers and producers of live theatre. Blag Theatre Company performs regularly in and around the Hertfordshire area.

Over the last 16 years the influence Richard and Lynn have had on past students is very apparent with several carving out careers in the theatre. During this summer ex students have enjoyed a diversity of professional roles including performances at The Edinburgh Festival, Theatre on the Lake Keswick , Chichester Festival Theatre, the latest Keith Lemon Film and even a stint in New York.

Their own daughter who has attended Blag since the age of 5 is now working steadily and building an impressive CV. Her latest part is in the highly anticipated ‘Broadchurch’ for ITV with the lovely David Tennant.

However not all students go on to be actors, Blag has seen many go on to be doctors, teachers, accountants, radio presenters and entrepreneurs. The overwhelming feedback though is that they would not be people they are today without their years spent at Blag and the confidence it has given them.

Drama is an important extra activity for all children it helps build confidence and social skills that last long after their days at Blag have gone.

All Drama classes are 90 minutes long with the exception of our singing class and our brand new ‘Little Blaggers’ class for 4 – 6 year olds which are 60 minutes.
