Post-16 BTEC Performing Arts Courses Bristol
Our leading BTEC courses give you the opportunity to train in a vocational, drama school environment whilst studying for a government-funded*, recognised qualification.
Our Level 3 Extended Diploma course is equivalent to 3 A levels and carries UCAS points on completion. You will study a range of units relevant to your chosen pathway including ballet, jazz dance, acting, singing and musical theatre. In addition to the necessary BTEC units all students benefit from a wealth of additional training in order to ensure they are properly prepared for onward progression.
Throughout the course you will work hard developing core skills in order to progress to vocational training at a professional level. The course focuses on practical, technical and theoretical training with a strong emphasis on audition preparation. Daily technique classes as well as a varied performance syllabus will ensure you reach your potential.
Our students are closely monitored throughout their course and are supported by outstanding pastoral care, dedicated physio support and more. All students receive individual one-to-one tuition from our leading faculty alongside group classes.
How do our courses differ from 'normal' college courses?
There are several differences between our courses and Level 3 courses offered at more traditional educational establishments - contact hours, teaching faculty, vocational focus, industry exposure, opportunities etc.
All our full-time courses maintain in the region of 30 contact hours throughout the entire course, running over 5 days Monday-Friday.
All of our courses are intensive and you can expect to work harder than you have ever worked in your life. We push our students hard, set high expectations and will ensure you reach your potential. The results and progression we see is reflected in this.
Upon successful completion of the BTEC course, students may choose to audition for 3 year HE/drama school courses. Ex-students have been offered places at many leading drama schools including Guildford School of Acting, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Bird College, Laine Theatre Arts, London Studio Centre, Urdang, London College of Music and more. Students also have the opportunity (subject to audition) to join the second or third year of our 3 year Diploma course allowing them, where appropriate to complete their training.
Application Procedure
Entry is strictly by audition only. Apply online. There is no audition fee for BTEC applicants. We are happy to arrange online auditions for overseas applicants only.
*Funding
Our BTEC courses attract 'normal' government funding in exactly the same way as attending your local college to study any subject at A-level / BTEC or an equivalent full-time level 3 qualification. The funding we receive only pays for some elements of the course and, alone wouldn't allow us to support the quality of staff, amount of hours and design of the timetable that we deliver.
In order to ensure we can continue to deliver the highest quality course that goes far over and above the requirements of the BTEC we charge a 'top-up' fee (currently £1200 per year). We are able to award scholarships against this in some circumstances. This additional 'top-up' fee pays for your weekly one-to-one tuition as well as numerous other elements of the course outside of the BTEC requirements.
