Help needed to raise funds for Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School

The Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School will celebrate its 20th Anniversary at the Hackney Half

Anna Fiorentini half marathonThe Fiorentini Foundation is looking for people to raise vital funds to support children and young people by taking part in their local half marathon.

The Hackney founded Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School is looking for fundraisers to take on the Hackney Half Marathon on 26 September 2021 as it celebrates its 20th Anniversary. Money raised will go to the Fiorentini Foundation, the charitable arm of the School. The Foundation’s mission is to break down the barrier of privilege and bring the performing arts to all children no matter their background.

The School was established in Hackney in 2001 as a Prince's Trust Business. Since then it has gone on to win three Business of London Awards and has opened up other Theatre & Film School branches across London, as well as a school for adults. The Theatre & Film School uses the performing arts to help young people develop important life skills including teamwork, self-expression, communication and confidence.

The pandemic created an unprecedented challenge for the Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School. Operations had to close for several months which meant that the School did not know if it would be able to reopen. Thanks to large grants from The Arts Council and The National Lottery’s Coronavirus Support Fund, support from the Coral Samuel Trust and South Hackney Parochial Charities, as well as donations from the public and small firms like Web-Labs, the School was saved. However, to continue to provide disadvantaged children access to the world of performing arts, vital funds are still needed.

Principal and Founder Anna Fiorentini said:

“Now that we have managed to reopen, we want to continue to help young people achieve their full potential. To do this, we are asking people to fundraise to help provide initiatives such as our Bursary Scheme. Hackney has a very special place in my heart. Not only was I born and bred there, but the first school opened there twenty years ago. This makes it the perfect year to take part in the Hackney Half and to help your local community come together. It promises to be the best celebration ever!”

This iconic 13.1 miles race works its way through the vibrant streets of East London on a largely flat course. By registering for the race through the Fiorentini Foundation, fundraisers will pay a registration fee of £40 with a fundraising target of £200. Fundraisers will receive a free t-shirt and online fundraising pack. The deadline for registration is 2 September 2021.

The Anna Fiorentini Performing Arts School is always on the lookout for people who would be interested in participating or running fundraising events so that supportive schemes such as bursaries and other forms of financial assistance can be continued. Whether it be a one-off donation, or a fundraising collaboration, community support will make a big difference to the students, now and in the future.
