For many theatres Christmas is cancelled despite Boris’s concession to allowing us all to see family and friends over the festive season, many of our nearest and dearest our holed up with Covid, meaning theatres have had no choice but to close.

It is absolutely devastating for the industry and all its players.

Hearing Lord Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ announcement this week pulled at our heart strings, for he has campaigned tirelessly for the profession over the last two years.

Andrew Lloyd Webber has said he is "devastated" to have halted his latest musical Cinderella for seven weeks as Omicron plays havoc with live events.

The West End show will return "as soon as this wave is licked", the composer and producer said, with a return currently scheduled for 9 February. (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-59742071)

For many in the entertainment industry this last month will have been their first contract since the start of the pandemic and for many that passion of theatre and film has kept their hope and drive alive. We hope this wave is licked early!

 For now we must make do with live streams (Something brilliant that came out of the pandemic) So what to watch, if you love a musical you might enjoy Tick Tick Boom or Eurovision (Its hilarious) on Netflix, or if you venture out to the cinema there is Spielberg’s, West Side Story. On Digital theatre there is a plethora of great musicals and theatre shows for you to enjoy. And coming in Feb 2022 is ‘Fair Play’, the critically acclaimed Bush Theatre’s production about two runners. This is a wonderful production.

Currently there are shows still running but do check with the theatre before you leave home to ensure you don’t make an unnecessary journey.
