Theatre Class Kent
LAMDA Taster Workshops - Sunday, 16 December 2018
Calling all young actors!
These new and exciting taster workshops are open to all 10 to 18 year olds. At your taster you’ll get exactly what it says on the tin - a taste of our LAMDA accredited Young People’s Syllabus (launching in spring, ’19). So come along ready to do a lot of acting, have a great deal of fun, get to know your tutors a little and ask absolutely any questions at all.
LAMDA (the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) is one of the oldest and most respected drama schools in the country - in fact, the world - so we’re very proud indeed to be offering their exams. To take a look at the sort of topics you can choose from please just visit the relevant LAMDA web pages: www.lamda.ac.uk/our-exams
Our LAMDA tasters, run by DBS checked tutors, are happening soon at two excellent Kent venues; one in Faversham and the other in Rochester (our actual LAMDA syllabus and exam courses start in January 2019).

The Alexander Centre
17 Preston Street, Faversham ME13 8NZ

Workshop One: 3.30 pm to 5.00 pm
Workshop Two: 5.30 pm to 7:00 pm
Parents and guardians are extremely welcome to attend/observe for FREE – one per student. We’re also very happy for you to simply drop your child off and pick them up again at the end of the session
Workshop places are available to single participants at the discounted price of just £6.00 per student.
You can also enjoy a further saving by using our "Bring a Friend" offer: when two people book together each person pays just £4.50 (ie, a £1.50/25% discount for each of the two people).
Note: places are limited - and there are only four workshops - so we advise you get in touch just as soon as you have a chance (please see below).
We’re not asking for any payment at the moment, though we do need to know that you want to book. Simply email firstname.lastname@example.org
When you email please be sure to tell us five key things;
# The venue you want, and if you are using "Bring a Friend" discount
# The workshop you want to attend (One or Two)
# The name and age of the student/s attending
# The name of the adult who will be attending/observing (if any)
# The best email for us to get back to you on*
You can book for either Rochester or Faversham, regardless of where you live. When the workshops are sold out we’ll be happy to note your email. We’ll then let you know if we run further tasters.
- Your Tutors
Amanda is a trained actor and member of British Equity. She’s also a highly respected theatre practitioner, young people’s workshop leader and adult tutor. She adjudicates regularly for many prestigious theatre events and organisations such as the Kent Drama Association where her intelligence, in-depth knowledge and inspiring approach are widely appreciated. Most recently she has adjudicated the Duncan Rand One Act festival for the Medway Little Theatre, Rochester.
Her work for the Duncan Rand included assessing and encouraging the performances of a diverse range of youth theatre productions and actors.
As well as being a much-in-demand public speaker, Amanda has also set-up and managed her own children’s theatre company where she wrote, produced and directed many performances – from cutting-edge contemporary drama through to her great love, the plays of William Shakespeare. She has worked in all mediums, from radio and clowning to TV, information films and theatre. Amanda is closely involved with the Kent-based Blissful Theatre Company having acted as assistant director on their hugely successful debut production in 2018, “The Tempest”. She’s now delighted to be part of Blissful’s 2019 show, “Much Ado About Nothing” – and is very much looking forward to bringing her expertise, enthusiasm and diligence to the Theatre Class LAMDA syllabus.
Paul trained at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, where he achieved a distinction in the school’s Acting and Theatre Production diploma. Paul also holds his PTLLS certificate (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector) along with the Certificate in Training Practice awarded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, London. He has run many theatre workshops for young people - notably fwith The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. Paul has also written two plays for the NYT, co-directing one of them. He has scripted for TV series such as the BBC’s EastEnders and Holby City. His stage plays have been produced on the Edinburgh Fringe, in Australia (Melbourne Festival) and off-Broadway, New York.
In 2018 Paul was lead tutor on the final BTech theatre course to run at Broadstairs FE College (16 to 21 year olds). In the same year he completed his tutor’s training course with LAMDA and is now very excited to be offering their demanding - but uniquely rewarding - exams. Paul also runs private theatre workshops of his own. His courses include Stanislavski, Shakespeare and Second Circle Voice Work (having trained with the world-renowned voice teacher, Patsy Rodenburg). As well as approaches to acting - from High Comedy to Low Farce - Paul also teaches playwrighting, script analysis and directing. Paul, like Amanda, has also adjudicated for the Kent Drama Association’s annual play festival.
